Can I call at any time?
The helpline is open every day of the year from 9am to 9pm.
Who answers the phone?
Our passionate support workers who come from a range of backgrounds answer your call. All our support workers have had training or are a trained or in training counsellor, social worker or psychologist.
Your call is confidential, our supporter workers are non-judgemental and are here to help you through the situation you are calling about.
Are the helpline workers trained?
Absolutely. We have a mix of in-house trained support workers, qualified counsellors, social workers and in training psychologists. All our support workers have the appropriate experience to be taking your call.
Is the helpline confidential?
Yes
The only exceptions to confidentiality is during supervision (when the helpline workers get support and make sure their standard of work is high) though they will never share any identifying details about you (the caller).
There are exceptions to confidentiality if someone is at immediate risk to life.
Do you have counsellors?
We do! We offer counselling appointments in-person and over Zoom, so you can get professional counselling support wherever you live in Aoteaoroa.
How much does it cost?
Our helpline is completely free!
Counselling costs:
Individual Adult $90
Individual Child (Under 18 years) $70
Couples $120
Whanau (3 or more) $160
If you hold a community Services Card the cost is:
Individual Adult $70
Individual Child $40
Couples $90
Whanau (3 or more) $120
We do have some funded sessions available for those who qualify under OT funding. Please make contact with us to discuss this if you feel this is an option or ask your OT social worker to put in a referral on your behalf.
WINZ counselling subsidy can be applied for, for those who meet the criteria. This form needs to be completed by your GP and the counsellor we book you in with. These sessions are partially funded, the remaining cost is payable by the client and is usually around $40 per session.
